Study in Cyprus Colleges and Universities

Cyprus has a highly developed system of primary and secondary education offering both public and private education. The high quality of instruction can be attributed to a large extent to the above-average competence of the teachers but also to the fact that nearly 7% of the GDP is spent on education which makes Cyprus one of the top three spenders of education in the EU along with Denmark and Sweden.

The country

Cyprus, is the 3rd largest Mediterranean island - covering 9,251 square kilometers, 240 km from west to east and 96 km from north to south - with a population of approximately 800,000. Its strategic position, its wealth in forests and mineral deposits, as well as its skilled craftsmen, made it the prized possession of the powers of the day. Cultural influences came from all directions - all major regional civilizations left their mark on the island, contributing to the development of a very rich and diverse cultural heritage with less than 1% crime rate.

The Cypriot economy has diversified and become prosperous in recent years, although in 2012 it became affected by the Eurozone financial and banking crisis. According to the latest International Monetary Fund estimates, its per capita GD at $28,381 is just above the average of the European Union. Cyprus has been sought as a base for several offshore businesses for its highly developed infrastructure. Tourism, financial services, and shipping are significant parts of the economy. Economic policy of the Cyprus government has focused on meeting the criteria for admission to the European Union.
